Cruising with Quantum Sails

The following email was received from John and Sue Reeves, about their suit of cruising sales from Quantum in Cape Town

Dear Tony
Sue and I would like to convey our very strong recommendations to anyone thinking about obtaining a suite of sails from Quantum. We recently purchased a new set for our Bavaria 42 cruiser to sail the Indian Ocean and have nothing but extreme confidence in them. We sailed from Dubai in the UAE around to Muscat in Oman where we stopped for a couple of days to take on one or two extra provisions and then set off to the Maldives where we stayed cruising for a month.

Then off to the Chagos and a relaxing two month sojourn before heading west to the Seychelles. There we cruised around the islands for about a month waiting for the Southwest Monsoons to ease before making a passage back to the Middle East. Cleared in on the East Coast of the Emirates in Fujeirah and had a deliberately slow paced cruise around through the straits of Hormuz and back to Dubai.

All in all we sailed just over 6800nm in tropical sunlight, some strong weather systems and the typical squally weather associated with the ICTZs. The trip took us seven months. The sails held up perfectly and even the colours of the decals did not seem to fade. For cruisers like us, who demand robust and durable sail sets to tackle long distance, Quantum have come up trumps.

Sadly the only picture I can offer, showing us under sail, is one of greeting the QE2 on her final cruising destination of Dubai on 26th November 2008. This was after our return from the Indian Ocean. Everywhere else we have been there was no-one around to take pictures of us while under sail. What bliss for us!

Best regards
John and Sue
