How to Operate a Quantum Spinnaker Snuffer

Fitting to sail

1. Attach head of sail to S/Steel shackle on web inside snuffer
2. Attach S/ Steel ring located on head of snuffer to suitable attachment point.
3. Pull down hoop over sail

Hoisting and deploying the spinnaker ;

1. Attach halyard to snuffer ring at top of snuffer.
2. Check snuffer hoisting line is free of knots and all on one side of snuffer.
3. Ensure sheets and tack line are fastened to sail.
4. Hoist snuffer / sail up and fasten halyard.
5. Pull in tackline 50% of the way.
6. Slowly pull snuffer hoist line and raise the hoop up the sail.
7. Do not sheet in till hoop is at the top.
8. Don’t let hoop shoot up sail uncontrollably ( use a snatch block ).

Lowering Snuffer and Spin ;

1. Bear away slightly and let sail go behind main.
2. Ease spin sheet .
3. Ease tackline slightly.
4. Pull snuffer hoop back down over sail.
5. If there is too much, on lowering the snuffer, ensure sheet is properly eased.
6. When sail is fully covered by snuffer lower the snuffer back down, either into spin turtle on directly into hatch.
